SMCS started its humble beginning in 2006. Operating as a one-man risk management consultancy created by Chief Executive Officer Steve Morrish, today SMCS is a diversified company with interests in renewable energy, risk management & workplace training services, and safety product distribution.
SMCS Risk is SMCS’s 100% owned risk management and workplace safety training company based in Cambodia and assists companies protect their commercial and people interests. With expertise in criminal investigation, integrity and compliance, and crisis management, SMCS Risk has become the go to company for many international brands operating in Cambodia’s often challenging environment.
With demand to improve workplace safety, SMCS embarked on a journey to change Cambodia’s safety culture and introduced workplace safety training services to its business. The training programs encompass workplace safety, incident response and safety leadership management.
Recognised as Cambodia’s leader in workplace safety, in 2021 the Australian Government provided SMCS Risk with a $100,000 usd ‘Investing in Infrastructure’ contract, to design Cambodia’s first workplace, health and safety guidelines for the construction industry.
The workplace safety journey continued for SMCS when it opened SMCS Safety, a safety product distribution business in Melbourne, Australia.
Since 2018, SMCS Safety has been providing safety products, workwear and corporate wear to workers in all industries. With an extensive range of Australian and globally recognised brands, SMCS Safety is dedicated to providing outstanding, industry standard products to workers right across Australia.
In 2010, SMCS entered into a Green Energy Investment (GEI) venture with Global Green International Investments (GGII), a renewable energy company with patented advanced pyrolysis technology, providing SMCS with a 40% stake in the venture.
The vision, is to contribute to the conversion of the world’s vast quantities of solid wastes generated each year, into clean and renewable energy.
As the world moves towards net zero emissions, SMCS has diversified its core business, to become an integrated, green energy and waste management business, that delivers bankable, low-risk waste-to-energy facilities that produce carbon negative, renewable clean energy, that is environmentally, socially and financially sustainable.
SMCS plans to continue developing its ownership interests in waste-to-energy operations and become a leading renewable energy business in Australia.
